Legal Services Support Section - East

Legal Services Support Section – East (LSSS-E) was formed in October 2012 to support and ensure the most effective execution and supervision of legal services support, particularly military justice for Marine Corps installations in the Southeastern United States.

The LSSS-E command structure includes a Regional Review Office, a Civil Law Services Branch, and a Regional Trial Counsel/Complex Litigation Team.  The Regional Review Office centralizes and standardizes the records review process. The Civil Law Services Branch provides a center of excellence and reach-back capability for the Staff Judge Advocate offices for ethics, claims, and other matters within the region. The Regional Trial Counsel/Complex Litigation Team is the detailing authority for all cases in the region and provides a team of highly skilled experts for the region’s most serious courts martial.

The LSSS-E will also oversee three LSSS detachments, called Legal Services Support Teams (LSSTs). The LSSTs will be located at MCB Camp Lejeune, MCAS Cherry Point, and MCRD Parris Island.  These subordinate installation LSSTs will strive to gradually consolidate all legal services in one location on the installation and, through outreach, continue services at MCAS New River, MCAS Beaufort, and MCLB Albany.

The OIC of LSSS-E oversees legal support services at MCB Camp Lejeune, while the MCAS Cherry Point and MCRD Parris Island LSSTs supervise their respective sections. The LSST at each installation will provide services to all Marines aboard the respective installation.
