Command Inspector General, Marine Corps Installations East
Colonel Bryan T. Horvath

Colonel Horvath is a native of Mission Viejo, California. He graduated from MCRD San Diego, California in October 1991 and upon completion of “A” school, then Lance Corporal Horvath was assigned to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 134, MCAS El Toro, CA in September 1992. Colonel Horvath graduated from California State University Fullerton and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in February 1997. 

After graduating from The Basic School in January 1998, he was assigned to Marine Fighter Attack Squadron-314 ”THE BLACK KNIGHTS”, MCAS Miramar, CA. While at the Black Knights, Colonel Horvath served as the Maintenance Material Control Officer and the Assistant Aircraft Maintenance Officer for twelve F/A-18 Hornet aircraft. In January of 2000, Colonel Horvath deployed with his squadron aboard the aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis to the Persian Gulf in support of Operation SOUTHERN WATCH.

Colonel Horvath transferred to Marine Corps Recruiting Station Twin Cities, MN in June 2001. While there, Colonel Horvath served as the Recruiting Station Executive Officer. Upon Completion of EWS in May 2005, Colonel Horvath was assigned to Marine Aviation Logistics Squadron 14 (MALS-14) to assume duties as operations officer and assistant operations officer. In September 2006, Colonel Horvath was assigned to II Marine Expeditionary Force Forward and deployed to Iraq in January 2007 in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM 08.1-08.2 serving as the MoD Assistant Coordinator, G-3 Iraqi Security Force Directorate.

Colonel Horvath next served as Joint Operations Center Operations Officer and Branch Chief for the Special Operations Forces, Current Operations Division, U.S. Pacific Command (PACOM) J-3 Directorate from May 2008 to May 2011. During his tour he supported Operation ENDURING FREEDOM-PHILIPPINES and Operation TOMADACHI. Next, Colonel Horvath served as the Executive Officer, MALS-14. In June 2012, Colonel Horvath deployed to Afghanistan serving as the Aide-de-Camp to LTG James Terry, Commander, International Security Assistance Force, Joint Command (IJC) in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM. In June 2013, Colonel Horvath transferred to Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune serving as Deputy Inspector General / Base Magistrate for Marine Corps Installations East–Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune.

Colonel Horvath Commanded MALS-14 from September 2014 to June 2016. Upon relinquishing command, Colonel Horvath attended the Air War College in Montgomery, Alabama.  Following school, he served as Assistant Chief of Staff G-4, 2d Marine Expeditionary Brigade from May 2017 to July 2019. While assigned to 2d MEB, Colonel Horvath participated multiple exercises to include NATO Exercise TRIDENT JUNCTURE 2018, the largest employment of the Marine Corps’ preposition capability for training in more than 30 years.  Next he served as Assistant Chief of Staff G-4, 3d Marine Expeditionary Brigade from August 2019 to June 2022. While at 3d MEB, Col Horvath participated in numerous exercises to include YAMA SAKURA 77, 79, AND 81, KAMANDAG 3, PACIFC FURY, BALIKATAN 2021 and 2022.

He assumed his current duties as Command Inspector General, Marine Corps Installations East–Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune in August 2022.

Colonel Horvath holds a BA in Psychology from California State University Fullerton, and a MS in Strategic Studies from the Air War College.
