A WC-130 “Hurricane Hunter” is presented to a crowd at the 2016 Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point Air Show – “Celebrating 75 Years” at MCAS Cherry Point, N.C., April 30, 2016. The WC-130 is a high-wing, medium-range aircraft used for weather reconnaissance missions by the United States Air Force. The aircraft is a modified version of the C-130 Hercules transport configured with specialized weather instrumentation used for penetration of tropical cyclones and winter storms to obtain data on movement, size and intensity.
This year’s air show celebrated MCAS Cherry Point and 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing’s 75th anniversaries and featured 40 static displays, 17 aerial performers and a concert.
