Retired master gunnery sergeant opens trail for base

Jeff LeBlanc, a retired master gunnery sergeant and president of Down-East Cyclists, takes a break at the Henderson Recreational Area Trail aboard Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. LeBlanc uses the winter months to make improvements and expansion to the bike trail. He began the building process in 2010 and hopes service members and their families will utilize the trail for biking, running and walking.

Jeff LeBlanc wanted to give back to the community with a passion he developed during his 26 years in the Marine Corps, so he began building several bike trails in the community. Leblanc retired in 2002 as a master gunnery sergeant and just a year prior discovered a passion for mountain biking. LeBlanc has since become the president of Down-East
